Returning Haynesville operators are now following up alternate unit well applications with actual permits to drill.  This week's report includes the first new well permits by EP Energy (formerly El Paso) in addition to a new permit for Comstock and two for Vine O&G (successor to SWEPI).  When the EP wells spud it will mark the day when all of the original Haynesville operators have returned to active development operations.  Mineral lessors in areas that haven't seen a new well in years are likely to see a rig or two in the not too distant future.  Good Luck to them.

Skip, have you noticed many EnCana permits to drill alternative wells filed? It seems EXCO and Chesapeake are the leaders in doing the alternative wells. Of course I mainly follow Desoto Parish and haven't noticed a spike in EnCana permits there, but they may be working in Bossier Parish

Encana is not applying for alternate unit wells or well permits.  They are experimenting with re-fracs.  The database is down so I can't check to see if the new Vine permits are for an existing ECA or a SWEPI unit.

We have a small amt. of minerals in Sec. 18 of 14/14(Desoto) where EnCana did a refrac May 2014 and it helped our little check some. EnCana leased so much of the Holly Field where a lot of our minerals are, and even though we are leased with another co. EnCana is the operator of a lot of sections in the Holly Field. Something I can't figure out on Sonris is it doesn't show refracs being done. Maybe I am just not looking at right place. I know Sec. 18 of 14/14 was refraced but I can't find anything under that well on Sonris.

From 4/28 to 5/1/14 ECA refracked 10 stages.  The production flow shows a clear increase from April to May.  Though the production increased it does not appear to be an economic return if the cost of the rework is in the range that has been mentioned publicly.  It should be held in mind that refracks are still experimental and the technology is still evolving.  Here's a link to the report:

@Skip, thank you

As of this morning, there were the following active HA permits:

EP Energy:       2

Comstock:       14

EXCO:             24

Chesapeake:   62

BHP Billiton:    48

The HA well count, last updated 2/25/15 was:

2700 Total HA Wells

2407 Producing

178 Waiting On Completion/Fracturing/Testing

25 Drilling

90 Permitted, Not Drilling

Only Vine and QEP hold not active permits to drill.  I expect that will change in the near future.

Skip, it appears that Exco Resources has moved all their Haynesville rigs (3) over to the Texas Haynesville (San Augustine Co.)

Yep, three in San Augustine County.  EXCO has done little in that area until relatively recently.  I suspect they have some leases to HBP and I do expect one or more rigs back in LA in the near future.

They may still have a bit to HBP but the majority of the new permits are for allocation wells (CULS in LA).
