For companies that focus on the Gulf Coast region, it's not strange at all. And most non-LA. companies have accommodation addresses in B.R.

There is no operator listed on SONRIS with name Greystone. They are likely a land company taking leases for a client or as speculation. That would fit with your report of their leasehold compared to Stroud.

There are numerous Greystone corporations with names that indicate that they do O&G business. To post some information, I need the full name as it appears on the leases.

From LA. Secretary of State and LOC SONRIS lite. 16 producing wells in 26 years seems to indicate that Stroud has conducted additional operations out of state. Most smaller operators have a few "Organization Red Flags" and I discount the importance of those for Stroud.

Greystone used to be a JV partner of CHK but I don't know if they still have a contract or not. They have been in southern Union parish for the last few years just poking holes in the ground. No production recorded. They drilled about 5 wells in the old Monroe field at depths consitent with the Smackover. Don't know what they are looking for but I hope they hit it big:) I'm guessing oil instead of gas.

Allen. That Borders is still executing and recording leases is a good sign. It doesn't guarantee development activity to follow but It does establish continuing interest. Can you share with us the other two companies recording leases? I suspect that the location of the leased minerals would also be of interest to some of the members.

This is a classic case of unjustified histeria. The success of the Haynesville has driven companies to look for other "resource plays." To make a resource play a big company (EOG, Borders is just a front) has to have lots of acreage tied up. That's what the investment community wants because they are preceived as "low" risk. In reality, although the Lower Smackover may have potential, it is definitely not proven. Even if it works somewhere, someday it may be no more "commerical" than some of the traditional South Arkansas plays. That's not a bad thing. It's a good thing...but people will have to readjust their expectations.
