I got a notice today from CHK's bankruptcy firm that CHK is selling the assets of "South Mansfield E&P, LLC" to Williams Company. The sale includes 50,000 mineral acre leases within the Haynesville Shale.
I'm curious if anyone knows what's included within South Mansfield E&P? Here's a story I found about several sales by CHK in the last couple of weeks.

Chesapeake assigned Haynesville Shale assets to Williams Companies and Williams agreed to a revised gathering and treating contract which lowers CHK's G&T costs on its remaining operated HA units served by Williams. This was a holdup in the bankruptcy proceedings and may clear the way for the court to approve the bankruptcy plan. South Mansfield E&P is the name for those assets that Williams will now own and operate. This is a very recent deal and it may be a week or so before there is a conveyance instrument in the public record that provides details of the units/wells that were included in the deal.

South Mansfield E&P has been issued an Organization ID #. There are no wells currently listed but once the "change of operator" forms are processed, all the wells transferred from CHK in the deal will be listed along with their section-township-range locations.

Thanks, Skip. From the news article I linked, it appears that Williams will "farm out" these properties to an operator for future drilling.
Looks like I just have to stand by and see how this plays out.
I believe that Williams will be the operator of record as indicated by their application for an LA Organization ID #. The company is likely to hire a "contract operator" for the maintenance of existing wells and the drilling of new wells. This is a common arrangement. For example, Indigo Minerals is the operator of record but they have Brammer Engineering handle their field operations. Brammer also operates for Chevron in east Texas.
The more important question for royalty interests will be the post production deductions Williams decides to go with. At the least we can hope that the marketing charge goes away and we will not have to discuss CEMI going forward. I don't know enough about Williams to know if the have a affiliate or division that markets. Time will tell.
It looks like the wells are changing operators in SONRIS. I don't know if they have all been moved yet as more were moved today. Just and FYI for those with interest in this transaction.
Thanks for the heads up, Greg. There are 106 wells transferred to South Mansfield E&P, too many to post in one discussion reply box.
