Where is everyone working?

I am a field landman for a small oil and gas company out of Lafayette Louisiana, well needless to say work has been getting extremely slow the last few months. I have been searching for employment but have had no success. It seems as though no one is hiring, but I keep reading of all the activity going on in the Haynesville Shale. Mixed Economic News Keeps Natural Gas Prices Near $4 Per 1,000 Cubic Feet In Early August 2009

Natural gas for August delivery slid 0.5 cent to $3.996 per 1,000 cubic feet during morning trading on Aug. 5.

Late July 2009: Crude Inventories Fall; Natural Gas Remains In Upper $3 Range Per 1000 Cubic Feet

The Energy Department's Energy Information Administration said in its weekly report that crude inventories fell by 1.8 million barrels, or 0.5 percent, to 342.7 million barrels. This value is 16 percent above year-ago levels. During morning energy trading on July 22, crude prices fell $1.02 to $64.59 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. On July 21, natural gas for August delivery closed at $3.846 per 1,000 cubic feet.
