We have seen a swing of 30% in price of NG in last few days.  Somebody making money on the trades.  But what's the real value on NG?

OK Guys and Gals,

I think we have seen the high for this season unless something drastic happens. A run to $6.49 was pretty impressive. Especially, when the consensus of opinion in the beginning was it would be years before we saw $5.00. Hopefully, we will see the price hold at $5.00+ for a while.

This has been an interesting and good thread with a lot of opinions stated. Thanks to everyone that participated.

In any event, I will welcome a drift back down to $5

Prices like this are enough to scare folks considering converting vehicles and building infrastructure to use NG.  Same for folks building LNG export capacity, petrochemical plants and the like.  Lets get them hooked, then raise the price :)

More seriously, this is going to be a big short term boost to folks who have leased productive minerals, taxing entities, and some of the folks working in oil and gas.

Very appreciative for the $5.00 and would be pleased if it held awhile. Not saying I do not want to see $7.00,$8.00,$10.00 or $15.00 again but after what we have seen over the last few years $5.00 is very good!

I talked to a guy today who is a contractor to a major gas driller. He told me his company had a 5 yr. with this drilling co. and the drilling co. told them they were going to do major drilling on every lease they had in the Haynesville. He said he was already working as much overtime as he wanted. (He was in the fracking field). Not this is one of those "For what it is worth" department

We must be talking to the same folks.  I heard from a Nabors honho pretty much same thing.  The time line was couple months for the rigs to move in.

Sure hope its right.

I see a lot of rig stuff moving down the roads.  So they going somewhere.

Another drilling support company is hiring staff.  Not naming but they have facility on 79.

I hearing all this but guess we have to wait to look at new drilling permits to know for sure.

There were several 600 acre leases put into PSA's of 1500 acres around here. (Haynesville).

Those young guys that went to ND will be glad to come home to warm weather if drilling does open up.    One described living and working there as "must be like working in the Gold Fields in Calif back in 1800's".

I don't want to underestimate how tough the living and drilling in ND is, but the last grizzly in California wasn't taken until 1922 and some of them ran over 2000 lbs. If you were mining solo in the early days it might have been interesting, not to mention claim jumpers.

The Bakkens, Williston ND has the highest rent in the county (700-square-foot, one-bedroom apartment in Williston costs an average of $2,394 a month), even higher than NYC & LA, so some workers live/sleep out of their trucks.  To me its a toss up between a rare 2,000 lbs. grizzly or a common -10 below night sleeping in a truck.

In the early days average size grizzlies were not so rare. There's a reason California was called the "Bear State". 

One of the interesting things to me is that ND shows up fairly high on quality of living estimations. Job availability and thriving economics still have a powerful pull. Of course the quality of living in the state overall and in the concentrated drilling areas can be quite different.
