Section,township,range/production units

A well site has been built and derrick is being assembled on it. According to published info in the times the site is in the same S,T,R as my land. [S5,T21,R7] How do I find out if this well site is within the same production unit as my leased land? I have found that the production units sometimes split townships or otherwise don't always follow township boundary lines. I talked to some of the people at site and they could only tell me the landowner's name, which I already knew. (a deceased… Continue

ANALYSIS OF HAYNESVILLE SHALE E&P COMPANIES BY NET ACREAGE POSITIONS AS OF SEPTEMBER, 2008

THE FOLLOWING RANKING AND NET ACREAGE POSITIONS ARE TAKEN FROM PUBLIC INFORMATION AVAILABLE ONLINE. THEY DO NOT REPRESENT CURRENT TOTALS AS MANY OF THE REPORTS ARE SEVERAL MONTHS OLD. ACREAGE POSITIONS HAVE BEEN ROUNDED UP TO THE NEAREST 1,000. THE LIST IS NOT PRESENTED AS A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS AS I WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE TOTALS FOR SOME OPERATING COMPANIES. OF SIGNIFICANT NOTE, I HAVE FOUND NO ACREAGE TOTAL FOR SHELL WESTERN E&P, INC. (SWEPI). IT IS UNCLEAR IF SWEPI'S ACRES ARE INCLUDED… Continue

Do you "Really" know the LEGAL STATUS of your minerals? Now is the time to "Do Your Mineral Homework"...

For those of us who have not leased anything yet, now is the time to be doing your land/mineral research in preparation for the next round of leasing (2009). When you get an offer, you should already know all you can about your interests. You should know the history of the land/minerals and how you came to own your interests. You should know who else may own a % of the minerals you think you own, whether you acquired that interest through inheritance or purchase. Don't wait for the land company… Continue

Silence: Listening to Others

Silence: Listening to Others

Scott Lyons

11/14/2008

As the season of Lent began this past year, my church gave each person a small card with a blunt, squared masonry nail woven through a piece of heavy lavender card stock. Above the nail is written a simple prayer, part of which follows: “May this Lenten nail remind me . . . of the season of Lent began this past year, my church gave each person a small card with a blunt, squared masonry nail woven through a piece of heavy… Continue

How do we get God's attention

To get God's attention, should not be the question, since God has His eye on us from birth. Whether we accept Jesus as Savior or not God will judge us. All our actions, thoughts, and words will be brought to light, and we will be judged accordingly. If we have our name written in the Lambs book of life then we will enter the glories of heaven, not because we are perfect, but because our sins are covered by the blood of Christ, if not then the person will be cast into the lake of fire. The… Continue

Seismic Survey

I live outside of the U.S., but still own family property in North
East Red River Parrish.
I have been approched by CGG Veritas to give permission to conduct a 3-D seismic survey on my property. Can someone give me some information on the do's and don'ts?
I was really taken on the original mineral lease for not knowing what ws going on. I don't want this to happen again.

Do we do it for love or do we do it or money?

There are a lot of people who put a bunch of time into this site and into The Shale. So, the question is, why? I started out just looking for information for my tax clients and then myself. Then I got into going to area meetings and briefing on tax stuff for H&R Block.

Now I feel like this is more. Not only have I learned a lot, been able to help my clients, and answered some questions (to the best of my ability) for some fellow Shalers; but I feel like I've found someplace to express… Continue
