Is there another meeting scheduled for Lakewood? The last meeting was August 7th and I have not heard about another meeting to date.

I had an interesting experience this Sunday. I was scheduled to speak to a local homeowners association. The turn out was great, around 400 people guessing from how full the auditorium was. A member of the Homeowners association went before me and did a great job giving about a 10 minute speech regarding things he had seen on a recent trip to Fort Worth and his concerns regarding the impact of the Haynesville shale on this inner city neighborhood.
My turn came to speak and I began my…

I saw the other day where the Louisiana Mineral Board place a statement in the Shreveport Times. It had a nice little map of where the Haynesville shale is located. Question is "How long have they had this information and what kind of action can the people take if they have had this info and been withholding it from the land owners?" If they have had this info for a while and people who say "SOLD" their mineral rights for $300 an acre might have gotten alot more had they had this info as soon…

T Boone Pickens Plan – Will it work?
Last night I saw a commercial for the Pickens Plan (www.pickensplan.com). If you have not checked his plan out, make sure you do. The last time we saw a Texan putting on a personal campaign of such magnitude was Ross Perot. Pickens plans on spending $58 million promoting the use of wind power and increased use of natural gas. Perot spent around $64 million dollars on his 1992 campaign.…

Jay,
I live in North Alabama and have owned land in Caddo Parrish for about 15 yrs. I had decided to sale the land and it has been listed since earlier this yr. When recently searching for info on retaining the mineral rights, I found out about the Haynesville. Call me clueless, but this was the first I had heard of it. The property is 12 acres on Atlanta-Mira Rd. in Rodessa. If I'm stating it correctly, it's S-8, T-23, R-15. Just wanted your opinion on the possibility of the H'ville…

Anyone go to the BPCC thing Tuesday night? I was there and was very disappointed in the speakers. There was very little new info and most of the speakers were obviously on the "side" of the O&G companies. (Take "side" however you wish) I was out in the lobby handing out flyers about income tax effects of lease/royalty income and heard a lot of people leaving saying the same thing. The person they put up for "asset management" was good, if at this point what you are worried about is dying…

Anybody interested in forming a group in Shelby County, Texas- to leverage our negotiation power? We have common interest- we will be more successful working together as a group of landowners in Shelby County- than to let the O&G companies- give us low-ball individual offers.
I also own several properties in the
Barnett Shale in North Texas- and we have join together to negotiate leases for the entire neighborhood- with great success. Initially, O&G companies…

I own about 100 acres in Shelby Co, Texas- and I also have five properties in the Barnett Shale - in North Texas. The first lease I signed with only got $2000 per acre in August' 2007. I signed my second lease in April'2008- and we received checks on the day of signing (not drafts) for $23,000 per acre with a 25.5% for a 3 year lease- which is renewable after 3 years with an additional cash bonus at that time of 3/4 of the initial bonus. Prices continue to go up ... now landowners are getting…

Ellora’s recent activity is their binding agreement with Chesapeake Energy Corporation executed on June 4, 2008, in which Chesapeake agreed to acquire a 65% working interest in Ellora’s deep rights in East Texas to target the Haynesville Shale formation. To consummate this agreement between Ellora and Chesapeake, Chesapeake agreed to pay Ellora $350 million in cash.

This morning there was a large convoy of over 30 large well service trucks from Pennsylvania pull into Shreveport on I220. I heard rumors that some companies were pulling off the Marcellus shale and moving into our area.

My first gohaynesvilleshale.com blog:
Haynesville asked me to do a blog every other week here on gohaynesvilleshale.com. I decided my first entry should be a little bit of history about how I got involved in all of this so here goes.
I have 3.5 acres in a Desoto Parish neighborhood. We were one of the first families to move into our subdivision. After my divorce I chose to stay here with my boys because it is such a peaceful area filled with good hardworking families. One of those…

This thing is going to have a big impact on taxes, social security and medicare benefits for people when they get money. Yet I've seen virtually nothing in the media or on websites about it.
I'll be right up front, I work for H&R Block during the tax season and have over 20yrs experience. But for the record, I am NOT pushing Block on anyone. Besides advice and questions are always free. ;-)
I've gone to a couple of meetings to brief on this and would like to go to as many more as…
