Your Experiences with Haynesville Shale: What About You?
A couple weeks ago, I asked a couple questions of you. Thought I’d post a couple responses. Reminder. I asked, “How long has your family owned the land in Louisiana? 2) When did you lease? 3) What’s been your experience? 3) Any concerns for the environment? 4) Why did you join GHS? 5) What has been the biggest change for you?” A few of you responded. I posted a couple of the responses below.

Additional Union County, Ar Possible Brown Dense areas of interest
Recent ads in the El Dorado paper that appear to be an attempt to contact unleased mineral owners. It is too early to know if these areas are brown dense interest or not, however the areas were involved in some of the early brown dense leasing. The areas and companies involved are;

Union County AR Possible Brown Dense areas of Interest
Recently there have been ads in the El Dorado paper by two different oil companies that appear to be an attempt to locate unleased mineral owners. Too early to know if these areas will proceed to well permits or if they are actually brown dense areas of interest, however these areas were involved in some of the early brown dense leasing. The areas are:

Educate Yourself About Your Rights! The Draconian Application of Statute of Limitations in Texas
I wanted to let Texas royalty owners know the importance of educating yourself about what your rights are as mineral owners. Your rights can be taken away if you are not proactive to protect them. I've attached an article I co-authored almost two years ago discussing how the Texas Court system has eroded royalty owner rights over the past 12 years via a draconian application of applicable statutes of limitations. (Limitations are known as "prescription periods" in Louisiana, and the need…

Nearing the Official Launch of ShaleBiz.com
Shaler,
Soon after I started GHS, the need for a dynamic online tool became apparent. I wanted a site that would nicely compliment GHS and add to the GHS user's experience. I tried a couple a different options, but they stunk. It became obvious to me that this was something that could not be done on the cheap. So after a couple designers and "back-to-the-drawing board moments," we are finally ready to open up shalebiz.com for business. Future tweaks will be performed, but I…

Primer on Texas Oil & Gas Law
I am an oil and gas lawyer in Houston with roots in East Texas. I was born and raised in Jasper, Texas and have family ties still in the area. I have been an oil and gas lawyer for ten years. I started out representing operators, but have since devoted myself to representing landowners and doing my part to educate the masses on their legal rights. I've started with educating my own family. We own acreage in East Texas and South Texas, but I was surprised to learn that nobody had a clue…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
