Forest Oil Corp. (FST) said it plans to increase its drilling activity this year after increasing liquidity with the sale of noncore assets in 2009.

EXCO production company, LP

EXCO just sent a damage release form to be notarized and a check for damages stating that they were going to go ahead and drill a well that had been put on hold. They called the well the Willie Johnson 7#2 well.

Anyone with any info I would appreciate. It is in Section 7, T14N, R13W

my family has 36.4 acres of land in Many LA that produced oil back in the late 40's to late 50's.
Does anyone know if they are projecting to plant any riggers there in the near future?

No Time to Relax

I’m getting ready to load up the van for our Christmas drive. Loading up the vehicle became more complicated after marriage, and then even more complicated after the birth of two little ones – girls at that! I saw this article on Louisiana this morning. Louisiana has been ranked as the happiest state. Hmmm. Is it the shale or the saints? Though, they do say the data was collected before Hurricane Katrina.

Seismographic Survey from Global Geophysical Services

Has anyone been contacted from Global Geophysical Services for a seismographic survey? I've received a letter from them asking for permission to do this survey on our land, basically surface rights only for one year. They are offering $25 per acre and claim that there will not be any damage to the land, just 3.5" holes that they plan on filling when they are finished. Are there any negative consequences to signing this and does the compensation seem fair?

Natural Gas Futures Near $5.90 /Per Million British Thermal Units At Mid-December 2009

A 7 percent jump for natural gas futures occurs during energy trading on Dec. 17 as the Energy Information Administration reports a drop for U. S. natural gas supplies. During Dec. 17 morning trading, natural gas for January delivery was up 40 cents, or 7.3%, at $5.86 per million British thermal units. Cold weather in recent days over the northern part of the U. S. is partially responsible for this drop in natural gas supplies.

COTTON VALLEY AND LOWER COTTON VALLEY UNITS WITH DEPTH DEFINITIONS INCLUDING THE HAYNESVILLE FORMATION

For some time I have been aware that there were Drilling & Production Units formed as other than HA (Haynesville) Units but which none the less included the HA zone in their depth definition. In the Summer of 2008, the Commissioner of the LA. Office of Conservation issued an order forbidding the inclusion of the HA zone in a unit with sandstone formations. Those units already approved were grandfathered. I posed a question to the LOC staff requesting to know how many of those units…
