LOCAL ECONOMIC STIMULUS PACKAGE

REFINANCING BARGAINS.

Some people complain about what is, or may be, done for homeowners in trouble. While worrying about someone else getting "theirs" unfairly, don't forget to look at what you can get yourself. If you qualify under good old fashion lending practices, you should be able to get rates @ around 5.0% for a 30 year loan. Like a lot of things rates are very volatile right now, so if this is something worthwhile for your circumstances don’t put it off.

If you… Continue

More Economic Stimulus - The Devil is in the Details

Or in several cases I should say the Angel. These are some sweet credits we are all paying to get. I'll take last weeks list and expand on what we know so far.

1. Nothing that I have been able to locate yet that will directly impact HS money, like tax breaks for that type of income.

Still nothing new here.

2. People on unemployment will receive an extra $25 a week, a longer time to draw benefits, and the first $2400 will be tax exempt on their federal… Continue

T. Boone Pickens on C-Span at the Governors Convention

Has anyone seen this? If you haven't you need to. He is really letting the Governors know that they need to back Natural Gas, Wind and Solar.
Also, he discusses a conversation that he had with President Obama.
This convention was interesting.
Hope that all will join T. Boone Pickens website.
Hopefully he will/can help to make a difference.

Royalty Payments?

If a gas lease does not specify how soon royalty payments will start after production, does an O&G company have a time limit in which to make the first payment? (This is in Caddo Parish, La.)

What Happens After Seismic Testing

A crew has been conducting Seismic testing on our family land north of Spring Ridge as well as on neighbor's land. Does this mean that they are close to putting a well in? if so, does anyone know how long it takes from the seismic testing phase to well drilling?

NY State Admits Ignoring Threat to City’s Drinking Water

Well Duh! Like I said: If hydraulic fracturing is so damn safe, why does Big Oil need exemptions?

In two documents released last October and earlier this month, the Department of Environmental Conservation declared that it “does not…find a significant environmental impact…

2009 Economic Stimulus Package and Your Taxes

Here is an overview of what the new Economic Stimulus package is going to mean to your taxes. Please remember that there are a lot of specifics that haven't been announced yet, so these are mostly generalizations.

1. Nothing that I have been able to locate yet that will directly impact HS money, like tax breaks for that type of income.

2. People on unemployment will receive an extra $25 a week, a longer time to draw benefits, and the first $2400 will be tax exempt on their federal… Continue

Repost Caddo Resources

Caddo Resources

Does anyone know the differences between Caddo Resources LLC, Caddo Resources GP, Caddo Resources LP and Caddo Resources Inc? I know that Richard McFarland was President of one and Rex Corey Jr is President of several others. Is there a connection between all of them? Caddo Resources LP (Rex Corey Jr) sold Goodrich Petrolem land for 32 million dollars. Has anyone had any dealings with either Richard McFarland or Rex Corey Jr? What about Delta Interest Inc out of Marshall,… Continue

2/20/2009 Update

2/20/2009

Shalers,

It’s fun being on the back end of this site and observing your activity. I posted a discussion today listing the top ten groups in terms of how busy they are. I think there are some surprises in the list. See the list here http://www.gohaynesvilleshale.com/forum/topics/busiest-groups-on-the-site

I have been trying to add some tools to maximize the site’s usefulness. I have added a box, front and center and just below the main picture, which… Continue

Black history month, “what’s that have to do with me?”

I never paid a lot of attention to black history month and have even fallen pray to the “why isn’t there a white history month” mentality.

I’m not old enough to have lived the atrocities that existed in the past. I have to admit that even though I felt sympathy at the types of things that I read about, I didn’t really “feel the pain” in a gut wrenching manner. It was something that I understood was horrendous but it was mostly all before my time. It was inexcusable but it didn’t… Continue

Nothing to do with oil or gas..just need to vent

A friend of mine died yesterday. She was only 42 years old. She did not have cancer or some other horrible disease. She was not in an accident. She was shot to death by the man who claimed to love her. She left him last Friday. He called her yesterday and asked her to come to his apartment. Unfortunately she went. He was waiting there with a shot gun. He shot her twice as she tried to escape then turned the gun on himself. He left behind 2 children to wonder why he would kill and commit… Continue

Social Security Retirement Planning

I recently learned that many people approaching retirement did not know all of the options available to them in terms of receiving their Social Security Retirement benefits. With so many baby boomers approaching retirement, the following information may assist in making the correct decision for their retirement.

Option 1 - Retirement at full retirement age - You can retire sith full benefits at your full retirement age. Initially, this was 65 years old but now varies from 65 years to 67… Continue

Does Anyone Know of Any CAT 583 and CAT 594 Pipe Layers For Sale?

I am not the best blogger so I hope this is okay to ask. I have a customer looking for 5-583's and 6-594's to buy. Also need a 42" bending machine. I figure since a lot of you are actively in the field, you may be able to point me in the right direction. THANKS!!!

property owner's son

Hello,

I am new to the sight and the gas industry. I am trying to find out some information to assist my 82 year old mom. She gets her royalty checks that shows the money is for gas drawn from the James Lime Formation. How or does it relate to the Haynesville Shale? How big is the James Lime formation? Her property is located near the center of and most northern San Augustine county.
Thanks for your information,
Brodie Riner, Jr.

State of the Industry, As Seen at NAPE (From an Observer's Perspective)

Many of you have looked to various indicators and bellwethers as to the general health of the industry as a whole, and in particular, how same will apply to the Haynesville Shale for the coming year. From those of us "in the business", many of us look to the turnout, prospects, and outlook gleaned at NAPE (formerly the North American Prospect Expo) as a significant bellwether as to the general state of the business in the coming year.

A little background:

NAPE began in… Continue

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
