Does Anyone Have Haynesville Minerals in East Texas Too?

Has anyone seen the Texas Supreme Court's Decision on Brown/Wagner vs. Sheppherd? If so, do you have a legal opinion on how this will affect mineral and landowner with minerals when leasing?

Here is a link to the PDF containing the decision on the state's website:

Governmental Intrusion

Can anyone tell me about the bill that passed that raised the "non-participation" drilling expense percentage to go up from 200% to 300%?
I'd like to see a list of the lawmakers that sold out the people.
please reply and thanks

Oil Prices Fall Below $66/Barrell; Natural Gas Prices Near $3/1,000 Cubic Feet at Mid-AUG. '09 As Economic Fears Flare

Oil prices fell below $66/barrell on Aug. 17 despite three (3) tropical weather systems brewing (one done, two cooking... "Claudette", "Ana" & Hurcn. "Bill"). The appearance of hurricanes and tropical storms, which can damage oil and natural gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico, were outweighed by new reports today showing that nervous consumers are holding on to their money as the economic recession drags on.

Where is everyone working?

I am a field landman for a small oil and gas company out of Lafayette Louisiana, well needless to say work has been getting extremely slow the last few months. I have been searching for employment but have had no success. It seems as though no one is hiring, but I keep reading of all the activity going on in the Haynesville Shale. Can anyone give me any leads to who in the area may be hiring? I have ample experience including title work, leasing/permiting, pipeline planning, drill site setup,… Continue

Jane Austen's guide to leasing

To get a PROPER lease you need to think like a woman a few hundred years ago. You'll have to wait until they come to you and then you can't appear to be interested. Actually something short of total disdain is called for maybe even the honest threat that you will go UMO. You will still need to flutter your fan though. That way when you get asked to the ball, you know that they will actually dance with you when you get there. They won’t have your intent and then not follow through with their… Continue
