For some time I have been aware that there were Drilling & Production Units formed as other than HA (Haynesville) Units but which none the less included the HA zone in their depth definition. In the Summer of 2008, the Commissioner of the LA. Office of Conservation issued an order forbidding the inclusion of the HA zone in a unit with sandstone formations. Those units already approved were grandfathered. I posed a question to the LOC staff requesting to know how many of those units…

There is currently a well in section 9 (South of Buncomb Rd. just past Woolworth Rd.) permitted to drill into section 3, and as of yesterday is permitted to drill into section 4 from the same site. My question - does anyone have any information as to if and or when they will be actually drilling for gas in section 9 itself?
I have heard rumor that they were supposed to drill this month but I have not seen an approved permit to that affect.
Approximately 130+ acres of the section did…

We have never had any type of communication with this Land Company, or any other Land Company for that matter. Below is the contents of the letter we received today:

Don't know about you, but I've anticipated the day that Obama would speak to the issue of shale gas and
now he has.
"The two Presidents announced the launch of a new U.S.-China Shale Gas Resource Initiative. Under the Initiative, the U.S. and China will use experience gained in the United States to assess China’s shale gas potential, promote… Continue

Went by the Clerk of Court's office today (Nov. 16, 2009) for Natchitoches Parish, LA and oil leasing in the northwest part of the parish is showing an uptick. Their office has been busy as of late with oil & gas lease people.

Folks,
Has anyone had contact with pipeline ROW agents concerning a new Tenaska pipeline coming through these counties? Have you executed the ROW agreement and about where do you live? Just trying to determine the status of such a line.... 24" +/- gas pipeline.
Regards to All,

We have land purchased in 1952 at a sheriff's sale where the state retained mineral rights. There's been no production until 2009. Usually the mineral rights go to the land owner after 10 years with no production. We found out they still have the mineral rights and have already leased the land according to Chesapeak. Do we have any recourse in the situation?

Pre Conference Notice (What the heck does it say and what the heck does it mean).
I’m going to try to lay out what the things on a pre conference notice mean in simple terms to a layman (from a layman). If I get it wrong, please correct me. If it is a nuance difference that is only useful to those of us that love to pick apart every lease clause and obsess over everything oil and gas, please be kind and post it somewhere else. Let's keep it simple. I hope that this blog and comments…
