EOG to start a unit in Avoyelles Parish

Thanks to Kirk Barrels watchful eye it has been noted on his Tuscaloosa Trend Blog that EOG has applied for a unit in the Bayou Twisty Field  in Avoyelles Parish. Interesting to me to note as Kirk brought out that it would seem their interest was almost more in structural location(at the end of the LaSalle Arch) rather than just resistivity as they  have much in the high resistive area but  quite a bit out of it. For those of…

Cheap Production Query and Economic Forecasting Software for Royalty Owners and Proffesionals

I saw a thread brought up recently in the play/formation discussion forums where many goHaynesvilleShale users were very interested in pulling production and predicting future royalty payments.  I believe the person who created the thread was looking for ideas around building the software and interest levels.  I think that software is already available.  There is a Texas Production Query Tool that pulls…

FrackNation has learned that Matt Damon has co-written and is about to star in an anti-fracking Hollywood blockbuster.

Promised Land will be directed by Gus Van Sant and co-star John Krasinski, who plays Jim in NBC's The Office. This will be a huge movie with a big budget and a lot of promotion and advertising and sources tell us it will be portraying fracking in…

Top 5 Best and Worst of the Oil and Gas Operating Companies

I have leases with 11 different operators and have tried to come to terms with the best and the worst. On this site it is sometimes very apparent who is the worst, but not a lot about who might be the best. I have a new worst, that actually has pushed CHK down to second place. Samson Resources has always given me heartburn, but since the recent boy out by KKR has catapulted them to the front of the line. Samson has recently added a section to their Web-site that shows their core values and…

2 new horrizonatal wells

It has been a while since I posted and some things have happend on the lease that may be of interest.

About a year ago, they drilled a horizontal Hainsville, the Wells 2H, but it has never been completed, probably waiting for gas prices to increase.

And recently they brought in the Wells 3H, a Hardwood Cotton Valley. It has been doing quite well since Jan 9, 2012, producing about 4M a day plus some condensate. Waiting for that first check.

And since all…

Royalty Question

On behalf of my neighbors in 13-16-15 (well #242558) (Harper Rd), any idea when those of us who leased with Chesapeake will receive royalties.  Some who signed with Petrohawk received their initial payment about 3 weeks ago.  Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

There is help available for TRRC users!

I went on line and then called TRRC cause I couldn't figure it out.  Talked with a woman named Nancy, absolutely no help.  Called the office of John Pintera and a woman called me back.  Her name is Ramona Nye.  Super lady game me all that I asked for...until my internet crashed!  Thanks ma. Bell, again.  Kudos to Ms. Nye.

Chesapeake Totally Naked on NG Hedges!!!

Latest financial and operation report released today by CHK reports ZERO NG hedges for 2012 and 2013. Typical AM "bet the farm" speculation. CHK is a giant land speculation /commodity speculation hedge fund with so much leverage it will now mortgage (VPP) or sell assets at <$3/mmbtu NG to cover a negative cash flow of $8 to $12B this year.

Over mid-term, AM is probably right, but near term cash market will be a disaster this fall if storage is full. This will only affect the cash…

How long is a permit valid?

I am new to this site and have found so much interesting information.  I have a question regarding permits.

I have 40 acres in Red River Parish and am currently not leased.  There is a permit hearing on Tuesday (February 14th) in Baton Rouge asking for permits in my section (20, Township 14, Range 9 West).  If Forest Oil is granted these permits how long are they valid or is there even a time limit?

Thanks in advance for any help on this issue,

Jane

Making Sense of North America’s Shale Oil and Gas Future

In the first half of 2011, the Big Four benefited from tight supply-demand conditions for many key services, as frenzied drilling activity in North American shale oil and gas plays strained the industry’s capacity to meet these needs.

In particular, a shortage of pressure pumping capacity–a service critical to hydraulic fracturing–had enabled service providers to push through substantial price increases in recent years.

Hydraulic fracturing is a process whereby producers pump a…

Jan. 12, 2012: Natural Gas Price Sinks Due To Oversupply And A Mild Winter Season; Below $3 Per 1,000 Cubic Feet

Huge Supplies & A Mild Winter Causes Natural Gas Prices To Drop on Jan. 12, 2012 To Near Historic Lows:

The price of natural gas for February delivery fell 8 cents to end at $2.6970 per 1,000 cubic feet on Jan. 12.  The price has fallen 13% this week alone due to a relatively mild winter weather cutting heating demand and huge supplies.  On Jan. 12, 2012, the Energy Information Administration said supplies are 13.4…

TX Frac Disclosure Rule Goes into Effect on Feb 1, 2012.

Austin, TX – Chairman Elizabeth Ames Jones and her fellow commissioners adopted one of the nation’s most comprehensive chemical disclosure rules for hydraulic fracturing chemicals. The rule will require Texas oil and gas operators to disclose on a national public website all the ingredients and water volumes used to hydraulically fracture wells in Texas.

Jones stated, “With the passage of this mandatory Hydraulic Fracturing Fluid Disclosure Rule, Texans can be assured they will know…

Lincoln's Thanksgiving Day Proclamation

October 3, 1863

By the President of the United States

A Proclamation

The year that is drawing toward its close has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever-watchful…
