A fish fry fundraiser for 12-year-old Odie Harris will take place Saturday at the Four Way Country Store in Haughton.
Harris, a student at Curtis Elementary, was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer earlier this month.
Gaye Myers, a close friend of the Harris family, says that the cancer has completely compromised his liver and has spread to his lungs.
The fundraiser will begin at 3 p.m. and will have a dunk tank, a raffle for various items and a fishplate meal.…

Shaler,
Please bear with me for a moment here
Today marks the
1 year anniversary of my brother-in-law’s murder. As of today, his murderer still roams free. Dennis spent last Father’s Day playing with his kids on a big blow-up water slide in their back yard. Later that night, he went out to deal with some pesky Armadillos. It appears that…

We have the mineral rights to two surveys (Joel White Survey A-773 and Lewis Watkins Survey A-808, but don't know much about what's been going on with them? How do you find out? We were recently approached to sell these rights? What does that mean and what kind of money does this type of thing bring?

Through email, Commissioner Welsh commented on the BP Disaster.
"The BP spill is a real catastrophe, in anybody’s book. Subsequent investigations will determine the cause(s) and responsible parties and proper action will be taken by the various regulatory authorities, as well as other entities. There are a tremendous number of responders, over 20,000 people, as I understand. The Office of Conservation is one of the State Agencies that is so engaged. Our Office regularly…

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama says it's time to roll back "billions of dollars in tax breaks" for oil companies and use the money for clean energy research and development.
Obama made the comments Wednesday in a speech at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
He said the catastrophic Gulf oil spill shows the country must move toward clean energy by embracing energy efficiency, tapping natural gas and nuclear power and eliminating tax breaks for big oil.
Obama said that…

Divorce Pending: Can Natural Gas and Renewables Survive as a Couple?
by Keith Mauck
The natural gas lobby has pinned much of its future hopes on the ability to serve as the "faithful partner" to renewable energy, primarily wind and solar. T. Boone combined natural gas with wind - before dropping the wind. A visit to the
Natural Gas Aliance's website, and you find that they have staked their postions on the ability to wed natural gas…

I am thoroughly familiar with the internet, but this is my first blog so hang in there as I learn the routine.
I have spent the last two weeks bouncing back and forth from DeSoto Parish, Red River, Caddo, and Bossier. Along with meeting people, I have also tried to gain a little first hand knowledge of the court houses. As I said before, I am not pushy enough to be a salesman, and I have learned this characteristic would come in handy venturing into the Clerk's Office. I had to ask…

From OilVoice.com Posted by Jurassic Exploration Inc. on April 29, 2010:
"XTO is moving further south into the Texas side of the Haynesville Shale play more and more as time goes on. I look for XTO to farmout or purchase leaseholds outright from others that have not yet developed their acreage position in Northern Sabine and San Augustine counties. It appears that ExxonMobile believes the reserves are great in this southern part of the play to let them continue to drill as much as…

Somehow, T. Boone Pickens got through Capitol Hill security with something very few succeed in bringing - his common sense.
T. Boone appeared before the Ways and Means Committee to tout the benefits of the Natural Gas Act (NAT GAS Act). Legislation that would provide…

I'm a 24 year old one semester away from a Biology degree, not your typical oil and gas researcher. However, I grew up with a grandfather working extensively in the oil field services area, and my uncles were destined to follow. I attended UL in Lafayette, and was introduced to the off shore drilling aspect, and was also made familiar with the business and investment portion of the industry. I was born and raised in the Haughton area, with my family dispursed over Bossier, DeSoto, and Union…
